This reference design is a highly integrated circuit solution designed to provide protection to Li-ion batteries from failures of the charging circuit. The IC design continuously monitors the input voltage and the battery voltage. In case of an input over-voltage condition, the IC will turn off the internal power FET after a blanking time. If the battery voltage rises to unsafe levels during charging process, power is removed from the system. If the input current exceeds the over current threshold for a limited time, the IC design will turn off the output power. The integrated charging FET can regulate the charge voltage and current according to the control from the host. The design can also provide a voltage source with over voltage and over current protection for host controller.

This reference design, using bq24300 and bq24304, is a highly integrated design that provides protection to Li-ion batteries from failures of the charging circuit. The IC continuously monitors the input voltage, the input current, and the battery voltage. The design operates like a linear regulator: for voltages up to the Input Overvoltage threshold, the output is held at 5.5V (bq24300), 5.0V (bq24305) or 4.5V (bq24304). In case of an input overvoltage condition, if the overvoltage condition persists for more than a few microseconds, the IC solution removes power from the charging circuit by turning off an internal switch. In the case of an overcurrent condition, it limits the current to a safe value for a blanking duration before turning the switch off. Additionally, the IC solution also monitors its own die temperature and switches off if it becomes too hot. The reference design also offers optional protection against reverse voltage at the input with an external P-channel MOSFET.

A 3.3V voltage rail is generated from a 0.9V to 1.65 V batteries using the TPS61221 boost converter and a 1.8V voltage rail is generated using a high PSRR LDO (LP5910) connected in series with the boost converter output voltage rail. The combine output current is 100 mA at 1.65V input voltage and 50 mA at 0.90 V input voltage. This power solution is deal to power sensors and peripherals from the same ultra-low voltage source powering the MSP430 family line.

Типовое решение TIDA-00712 предназначено для управления батареей умных часов (Battery Management Solution, BMS). Оно применимо в носимых устройствах с низким энергопотреблением, таких, как умные часы. Решение содержит линейное зарядное устройство  для 1 элемента Li-ion батареи с ультранизким током, высокоинтегрированный беспроводной приемник энергии с поддержкой Qi, недорогое решение для защиты по току и напряжению, контроль уровня заряда и расхода с токовым шунтом и повышающий преобразователь до 28 В для питания LCD дисплея.

Решение выполнено на миниатюрной печатной плате размером 20 мм х 29 мм. Питание осуществляется либо от Micro-USB разъема, либо от Qi-совместимого беспроводного передатчика. Беспроводной передатчик будет отключен при обнаружении 5 В на разъеме Micro-USB.

Dynamic transmit-power control is critical for improving spectral efficiency and reducing adjacent channel interference in wireless local area networks (WLANs). In addition, regulatory agencies worldwide require that transmit power be limited to certain level to reduce interference with other communication equipment. Another benefit of transmit power control in WLAN systems is to prolong battery life by reducing power-supply voltage to the power amplifier. This TI design provides a solution for closed-loop dynamic transmit power control for WLAN application. Although this particular design implements WLAN transmit power control, similar concepts can be used to implement power control schemes for other wireless technologies, such as LTE. Applications for transmit power control span a very wide range: from mobile handheld devices to industrial to automotive applications. For example, LMH2110 can be employed in automotive electronics to satisfy transmit power control needs of LTE or WiFi communication systems.
