The PMP10604 reference design is a 2-layer board 5V, 3A output power supply using LM53603 buck regulator for cluster unit in automotive applications. The LM53603 is a 3.5V to 36V input, 3A output capable, and 2.1 MHz fixed frequency buck regulator, specially designed for automotive applications. It has exceptionally low quiescent current (24µA typical at no load), and can transit to PFM from PWM to ensure high efficiency at light load. For this reference design, it has an input voltage range of 7.5V to 36V, covering the wide variation conditions of the 12V battery in automotive space. The reference board includes an input EMI filter section, and the layout is optimized for improved EMI performance on a 2-layers PCB. The board was tested under the automotive EMC standard, CISPR 25, and the conducted emissions were in compliance with the CISPR 25 Class 5 requirements.

DC/DC-преобразователь первого каскада поддерживает входное напряжение с широким диапазоном (от 6 В до 42 В), что в свою очередь позволяет обеспечить работу системы «старт-стоп», а также сброс нагрузки генератора. DC/DC-преобразователь второго каскада обеспечивает четыре ядра I.MX6 всеми необходимыми шинами питания. This design is an low-cost discrete power solution to power I.MX6 quad core. All the DCDC regulators are running at 2MHz to avoid the AM band interference and provide low solution size. The first stage DCDC converter can support wide Vin range from 6V to 42V, which can support start-stop system as well as load dump. The second stage DCDC provides all the necessary power rails to power up I.MX6 quad core. I.MX6 is very loose on the power sequencing of the different rails so no sequencer is necessary for this design. It uses a 4 layer board with 2oz copper to have better thermal characteristic at 2MHz switching frequency and 85C ambient.

The power supply has two buck regulators in cascaded connection: the first stage buck generates a 5V, 2A output using the LM26003, and the second stage generates two outputs of 2.8V, 1.5A and 1.8V, 2A using the LM26420 (The max output power in total is 14W). The LM26003 is a wide Vin non-sync buck regulator, and the LM26420 is a 5V input dual 2A, high frequency sync buck regulator. They both have automotive grade versions, qualified in AEC-Q100 Grade 1. The input voltage range of the design is 6.5V to 38V making it suitable for automotive 12V battery systems. Проект PMP9477 представляет собой оптимизированный с точки зрения наведённых электромагнитных помех источник питания с несколькими выходами для автомобильных цифровых приборных панелей. Данный источник питания имеет каскад предусиления для работы в режимах холодного пуска и совместно с системой «старт-стоп», а также два понижающих преобразователей. В каскаде предусиления, включающемся в работу по поддержке выходного питания на уровне 9,5 В при падении входного напряжения ниже 9,5 В, использован повышающий контроллер LM3481. Благодаря этому данный проект поддерживает диапазон входного напряжения от 4,5 до 38 В, что подходит для автомобильных систем батарейного питания на 12 В. В проекте задействованы два понижающих преобразователя, включённых после каскада предусиления, для генерирования 3 выходных напряжений: сначала LM26003 генерирует выход 5 В/ 2 А, а затем LM26420 генерирует выходы 2,8 В/ 2 А и 1,8 В/ 2 А (максимальная выходная мощность составляет 15 Вт). LM26003 – несинхронный понижающий преобразователь с широким диапазоном входного напряжения, LM26420 – двухканальный высокочастотный синхронный понижающий преобразователь с входом 5 В и выходом 2 А. Все три перечисленные микросхемы доступны в исполнении для применения в автомобильной промышленности и соответствуют требованиям AEC-Q100 Grade1. Расположение компонентов на печатной плате оптимизировано с точки зрения наведённых электромагнитных помех. В качестве фильтра электромагнитных помех в каскаде предусиления используется силовой индуктор, поэтому отсутствует необходимость в применении дополнительных фильтров. This reference design details a power management circuit which is capable to be operated at a supply voltage which is temporarily exceeding the maximum recommended supply voltage of the DCDC converter used. The protection is achieved by disconnecting the supply voltage and disabling the converter during the overvoltage events. The implementation is based on a completely integrated step down converter circuit enabling a small total solution while still capable of handling up to 3 A at the output.

This reference design includes a power management circuit which is capable of controlling a remote USB charging port in an automotive application environment. The circuit can be supplied directly from the car battery rail. It uses a small and highly efficient step down converter, the TPS62130A-Q1, to regulate the required USB bus voltage for charging with charge currents up to 2.5A. The USB charging port is controlled and protected by using a USB charging controller, the TPS2549-Q1, this charging controller is also used to monitor the charge current for adjusting the output voltage of the TPS62130A-Q1. This way the voltage drop across the cable connection to the USB port is compensated. In addition, the TPS2549-Q1 generates all required signals to indicate a USB charging port to the equipment connected to the port.

All buck converters used in this design is switching above AM band (>1.85MHz). The design is divided into four major blocks: Front end protection: Various protections have been implemented, such as those against positive and negative pulses (ISO7630 Pulse 1, 2a, 3a/b) through TVS, reverse terminal protection through innovative smart diode (LM74610), and battery disconnect switch with OVP protection (PFET). EMI filter: a common mode and a differential filter for conducted EMI suppression. Low EMI front end DC/DC converter: LM53635-Q1 is a switching, synchronous 3.5A buck regulator and is used as a front end DC/DC converter in this design. This 2.1 MHz part is automotive optimized and has low EMI. Apart from the spread spectrum option, the device comes in an automotive-qualified Hotrod(TM) QFN package with wettable flanks, which reduces parasitic inductance and resistance while increasing efficiency, minimizing switch node ringing, and dramatically lowering EMI. Downstream POL buck converters such as, LM26420-Q1 (Integrated dual buck), TPS57114-Q1, and TPS57112-Q1: all POL switchers used in the design switch above AM band. For high frequency noise-sensitive rails, a ferrite bead filter is used.

The TIDA-01428 reference design implements a 1-A, wide-VIN, buck converter to 3.3 V followed by a compact, low-input voltage, fixed 5-V boost converter for powering a controller area network (CAN) physical layer interface. The design has been tested for CISPR 25 radiated emissions and conducted emissions using the voltage method and for immunity to bulk current injection (BCI) per ISO 11452-4 with CAN communication operating at 500 KBPS. The TIDA-01428 is an EMC-vetted power tree plus CAN reference design that can be used in many automotive applications. A system basis chip (SBC) is an integrated circuit (IC) that combines many typical building blocks of a system, which includes transceivers, linear regulators, and switching regulators. While these integrated devices can offer size and cost savings in a number of applications, the integrated devices do not work in every case. For applications where an SBC is not a good fit, it might be beneficial to build a discrete implementation of these aforementioned building blocks thus making a discrete SBC.
