PMP10538 is a Single-Phase Synchronous Boost Converter using the LM5122 controller IC. The design accepts an input voltage of 18Vin to 20Vin and provides an output of 30Vout to 54Vout, capable of supplying 1.7A of continuous current to the load or 0A to 3.4A Max. The output voltage can be adjusted between 30Vout and 54Vout by driving the Vadj. input of the Op-Amp circuit between 0V and 3V.

The PMP20795 reference design uses UCC256301 enhanced LLC controller with integrated driver to provide 24V/12A output from a nominal 380VDC input. UCC256301 provides hybrid hysteresis control (HHC) to enable a fast transient response. In this design, a 1st order system with over 6kHz bandwidth is achieved. In addition, the advanced burst mode allows this converter to achieve less than 200mW power consumption at no load. With 200kHz nominal switching frequency, the converter is able to achieve over 96% peak efficiency.

Continuous-Conduction-Mode (CCM) Totem-pole power factor correction (PFC) is a simple but efficient power converter. To achieve 99% efficiency, there are many design details that need to be taken into account. The PMP20873 reference design uses TI’s 600VGaN power stage, LMG3410, and TI’s UCD3138 digital controller. The design overview provides more details on the CCM Totem-Pole topology operation, gives the detail design considerations of the circuit, and provides magnetics and firmware control design considerations. This converter design operates at 100KHz. A soft start at AC line crossover minimizes current spike and lowers THD. The PFC Firmware measures AC current and PFC output voltage in real-time and predicts the dead time needed for the switch node to complete a full swing. The adaptive dead time control effectively minimizes both switching loss and GaN FET body diode conduction loss. A GUI is available to support parameter setting and control loop tuning.

The circuit consists of a front-end two phase interleaved transition mode (TM) power factor correction (PFC) based on the UCC28063A, which minimizes the PFC inductor dimensions and reduces the EMI filter requirements. The HB-LLC isolated DC/DC stage is controlled by the UCC256301 hybrid hysteritic control LLC controller, which ensures fast transient response resulting in reduced PFC bulk and output capacitor dimension. Phase shedding in the PFC stage and the advance burst mode optimization feature in the LLC stage help in meeting high efficiency at 5% load (230V AC).
